PGCPS requires school bus service even though the neighborhood is only a few hundred feet away from the Elementary school, because the sole paved right of way is MD-953 which lacks shoulder and sidewalk. SHA needs a policy to place a high priority on sidewalks along state highways in cases where the lack of a sidewalk is the sole reason that kids are required to be bused to schools that are close by. (Alternatively, SHA should teach the PG school board how to create safe routes to school.)

A sidepath trail can be added here along the NASA property with only a single minimally used cross street. There is no shoulder eastbound between Mandan and Cipriano making a trail especially useful. Unlike the rest of the proposed trail from Greenbelt to Fairwood, this segment need not be a victim of the Prince George's County refusal to maintain trails, if either the City of Greenbelt or NASA would agree to maintain it.

The Capital Beltway has blocked the Henson Creek Trail from being extended to Metro for 20 years now. The plan should explicitly state that any significant capital improvements (including rebuilding the roadbed) will include provisions for a trail crossing. More generally, the Plan needs to address this problem of major highways blocking trails, which is ubiqjuitous.

The bike lane here violates SHA standards and should be decertified and removed. The right in right out was built on top of a pre-existing bike lane and basically tells drivers to right-hook the cyclist. SHA should have required a right turn lane to be to the right of the bike lane here.

Expand bus service to weekends in addition to weekday service over the Susquehanna River. Also, provide greater on-the-ground and online information with wayfinding and tutorials on putting bikes on the Harford LINK Buses to cross the river, as this is a major crossing for the LSHG, ECG, 9/11 NMT, USBR 201, and Mason Dixon Trail.

Opportunity to create a shared use path connection along mostly existing state right-of-way for an all-ages-and-abilities walking and biking connection between Harford Community College and Havre de Grace (linking to Bel Air via HCC Connector). This would create a strong connection to the future Susquehanna Bike/Pedestrian Crossing.
