MDOT and the county should install a short, protected, shared-use trail along Veterans Pkwy/MD 410 that connects Ardwick Ardmore Road to Ellin Road. This short, protected trail would connect 1000s of residents to the New Carollton Metro/Amtrack/MARC/Purple Line stations via low-stress residential streets. Trail users could safely cross MD410 at the traffic signal to be installed for the Purple Line to cross Veterans Pkwy at Ellin Road.

There are a good amount of pedestrians on Cockeysville Road, especially in the morning and during lunch. There are multiple gaps in the sidewalk and no crossings.. Please add sidewalk on one or both sides.
There is a fair amount of truck traffic and truck turning but the roadway does not need to be this wide.Liked 0 times

I cannot agree more and would add that it's the entire stretch from York Road to Padonia Road. How about a two lane road with center turn lane using the extra space for a protected bike lane? Speeds are too high, volumes are probably so that travel lanes can be removed.
Also, close to Padonia, sidewalk should be added on both sides. There is so many kids walking from to school.Liked 0 times

Even though this is the location of a Metro station, an Amtrak Station, a MARC station, and the location of a future Purple Line Station, the design is heavily focused on the convenience of drivers/motor vehicles. It is unnecessarily unpleasant to walk and bike here and not as transit-supportive as it should be based on large investments to build 4 major public transit stations here. There are several transit-oriented developments in the works, which may help make it more walkable and bikeable. However, MDOT/MDSHA should improve Ellin Road to accommodate people walking and rolling (i.e., narrow and/or remove traffic lanes to make room for protected bike facilities, improved pedestrian facilities, and improved bus access, add traffic calming features to improve pedestrian access and safety and reduce vehicle speeds). Harkins Road is comically overdesigned (e.g., 5 wide motor vehicle lanes to accommodate an AADT of less than 3,000). MDOT/MDSHA should support the county on narrowing Harkins Road (i.e., road diet) and adding protected/grade separated bike lanes and improved sidewalks.

This is a scary intersection to cross on foot. It does not feel safe to travel outside of a car. With the new Glenridge Purple Line Station opening nearby, MDSHA should improve this intersection to both accommodate and *welcome* larger numbers of people the state and county want to see walking to and from this area.

Being near a major transit station, MDSHA should install traffic signals with automatic pedestrian signals (i.e., no need to press a beg button - increasing pedestrian access and safety) and leading pedestrian indicators (i.e., pedestrian signals allow pedestrians to get a head start crossing before allowing car traffic to begin moving - increasing pedestrian access and safety).

The slip lanes add additional crossings for pedestrians. Even though car traffic volumes are relatively high here. The state and county have invested a ton of resources to build a light rail station here. The intersection should be redesigned and rebuilt to support public transit and transit-oriented development.

Many people attempting to cross here on foot to get between the Village center and these apartments. I know that improvements are planned for the new housing development here, but ultimately a tunnel under the road (like the pathway tunnels under other state routes in the CA area would be ideal.

This is a hostile intersection to cross on foot. With the new Purple Line Station opening nearby, MDSHA should improve this intersection to both accommodate and *welcome* larger numbers of people walking to and from this area. MDSHA should remove all of the slip lanes/channelized turn lanes and reduce the turning radii to encourage drivers to travel at non-fatal speeds when turning through crosswalks and to make crossing the street safer and easier for pedestrians.

This intersection is currently designed to prioritize vehicle level of service/ moving large numbers of cars quickly over all else. With it's adoption of a safe systems approach, MDOT should place more emphasis on level of access and service for other modes of transportation. To support the state's climate and resiliency goals, MDOT should start focusing on metrics that result in a reduction of vehicle miles traveled.

This intersection needs substantial improvements to support increased numbers of people walking and rolling, or traveling to/from nearby bus stops, across this intersection to reach the new Purple Line station. Currently, pedestrians have to cross 100+ feet/7 lanes of traffic without any refuge mid-crossing. Currently, pedestrian signals do not provide sufficient time for people who walk slowly or have mobility issues to safely cross. MDSHA should improve the intersection by adding refuge islands (i.e., minimum of 6 feet of space to stand safely in the median if a person is unable to cross during one signal interval), lengthen the pedestrian crossing time, and make other traffic calming and transit-supportive design improvements.

No pedestrian facilities exist connecting students from neighborhood to Wicomico High School. There is a cross walk across RT 50 but nothing beyond that. Students must cross Business 50 and then Mt Hermon (350) at a dangerous 5-way intersection with no crosswalks or pedestrian signals, and then down long ave or Mt Hermon to the school

Salisbury has installed a two-way bike lane on Waverly Drive but has failed to install signage on the east side of the street adjacent to the bike line alerting drivers to look right for cyclists before making right hand turns. Frequent near misses at this intersection.
