It is very hard to cross Monroe at 11th, especially at night. Please consider adding a lighted intersection at Monroe and 11th.

As an employee for OSU Surplus and Recycling, to service the all of the buildings on the north half of campus, we need to drive on Monroe often to get our jobs done. Making this road not accessible by car would greatly impede the functionality of the campus. if this is a consideration, i would suggest keeping the street still accessible for service vehicles, so the campus can remain functioning smoothly.

There needs to be better lighting near the crosswalk. While driving, it's very difficult to see anyone on the OSU side of the road

Navigating this intersection in a vehicle is so difficult. Pedestrians walk across without looking, bikes zoom thru or turn without signaling, and other drivers frequently don’t understand a 3-way stop.

The cross walk at 15th and Monroe is horrible. Motorist cannot see pedestrians behind trees or close to the road buildings - even in broad daylight.

While hosting Be Bright here, I was told that drivers with Door Dash and similar services rely on this area for picking up meals. Consider extending loading zone hours into the evening. Or reserving a loading zone on the restaurant side of the street.

Anywhere there is parallel parking next to bike lanes, I don't feel very comfortable biking due to the risk of opening car doors. Consider buffered bike lanes or back-in parking.

There's a bench here that is really nice.

I love the grassy area outside of the Black Cultural Center. It would be nice if there were more grass patches along Monroe.

Having a car free road would make more room for businesses to create outdoor dining opportunities. This would greatly increase business to restaurants, cafes, and bars, especially in the summertime when business slows down.

I love the trees on the south side of this corridor. More trees along the entire street would make it even better.

The bike rack here is excellent.

This intersection should be a four-way stop. Very dangerous for pedestrians and bikes because cars come seemingly out of nowhere at high speeds. In reality, they are turning left from Arnold way, but there is so little warning for a pedestrian that it seems like the car is coming out of nowhere, while they are already in the street. A four-way intersection would solve this problem.

This intersection is a perfect example of one that would be much safer for pedestrians and cyclists if car traffic was limited. I have many friends who have almost gotten hit at this intersection.

This area is dangerous for bikes and pedestrians! We want a car-free monroe.

I believe Monroe should be car-free or car-limited from 26th to Kings. This would allow for greater safety of bicyclists and pedestrians. The entire street is very dangerous for pedestrians and bikes, which are the main users of the road. Reducing car traffic, especially at night, would make a hotspot for nightlife and increase business usage.
There are options to substantially reduce or limit car traffic on Monroe without disrupting access for those who really need it. For example, ADA vehicles, delivery and service vehicles, buses, and public safety could still be allowed with a lowered speed limit. Other cars could be allowed to cross monroe from perpendicular streets to access the parking lots on campus. Or, alternatively, car traffic could be permitted at certain times of day (such as normal work hours) or in only one direction. This would increase the safety and reduce the overall traffic. Cars can be redirected to Harrison, Van Buren, and Kings.Liked 5 times -
SW 26th facing North at NW Monroe Ave could be turned into a dead end and signage could be placed directing motor vehicle drivers to use NW 27th. At the same time, NW Orchard Ave could be turned into a one way going West between SW 26th and NW 27th, this would prevent motor vehicle drivers from taking a right and going south down SW 26th as they do since it is a short cut through campus even though SW 26th is a one way street going North.

I just want to place this comment here to potentially look at the streets between Monroe Ave and Harrison Blvd for future projects. I think these streets are just a bit too narrow for a two way street. I think they may be better as one-ways. Which may allow us to put dedicated bike lanes and improve pedestrian safety.

This stretch of Monroe has an incredible variety of pedestrian-friendly businesses and a huge potential to bring OSU folks off campus and into the community. However the street is used as a throughfare by many cars when there are other good options (Van Buren/Harrison) for E-W travel. I would love to see measures put in place to prevent through traffic by cars, perhaps by reducing it to one lane of traffic east of Kings, and having it pedestrian/bike/transit from Kings to 26th, creating open space and providing the adjacent businesses increased/free use of that space.

This intersection, 26th and Monroe, needs a traffic light.

The entire stretch between 14 and 26 needs to become more convenient to bikes and pedestrians, and less to cars. Not that anyone in a car who's trying to get somewhere in a timely manner would use Monroe anyway. But we need to enhance safety for non-motorized users, who already dominate this street, more than probably any other in town.

With the new housing between 9th and 11th there could be extension of safe walking along Monroe.

All of Monroe west of 14th should have a speed limit lower than 20mph, encouraged by narrow lane widths and other features. At eastbound bus stops parking on the north side should be eliminated and the traffic lanes should swerve to the north so cars can pass stopped buses. This chicane will help force a low traffic speed while improving flow when buses stop (obviously, east and westbound bus stops have to be offset).

Make this section of Monroe car free due to all of the foot and bike traffic at risk
