I suggest a bike box for those riding north and waiting at the traffic light. Seems a safer merge into the general traffic lane than the current merge as the bike lane ends a few yards north on 14th.

It would be awesome to turn the section of Monroe between 26th St and Kings into a vehicle-free zone, perhaps with the exception of public transportation. It seems like businesses to the north of Monroe would still have access to roads through alleys and N-S streets. The campus side is connected through its own streets without Monroe.

I was nearly hit by a car driving from this alley, across the sidewalk, and onto the street here.

I was nearly hit by a distracted driver last year as I was crossing this crosswalk. I had to run out of the way and I don't think the driver was ever aware that I was there.

People in vehicles turning right onto Kings tend to use the bike lane as a turning lane here, and it is not safe. I have started to turn right from the actual lane several times and had someone come up behind me, pass on the right into the bike line (in a car) and beat me to the turn.

I turn onto campus using this intersection daily to access parking. I come from Hwy 34 and take Monroe from the library to here every day I work.

I saw an article speaking to how making streets less straight made people slow down because they felt more nervous about driving. It was intuitive design to help with the speed limits and safety, and is often implemented in the UK. Maybe we could try something like that with Monroe, adding greenery drainage or outdoor gathering spaces to make the road feel more windy and make people be more cautious.

I think it would be really great to add more parking lots behind businesses, like the one behind the building that contains Pollen and McMenamins. Then people would rely less on the street and the dangerous ins and outs

Often when parking along this block to get food, I'm incredibly frightened to open my door in order to leave the car, or pull out of the spot in case of oncoming bikers and how close parking is to the bike lane/how hard it is to see down the street especially when it's raining

The four way stop here is almost never followed--people don't know who's turn it is, bikes drive through without stopping, and pedestrians dart across not knowing if they should or should wait. I've seen roundabouts replace four-way stops with great success in Oregon

KBBQ Express is the type of business I'd like to see more of on Monroe. It's unique, it's got both sit down and grab-and-go options, and it's, frankly, delicious. I love that it's locally-owned and isn't the third of its kind on the block.

A covered busstop, similar to what is on the corner of Kings and Monroe would be great somewhere betweeh 26th and 16th.

Please consider putting in flashing pedestrian lights for students and employees walking to and from this lot. It's a wide street and people turn onto 14th from Monroe and don't always see people crossing on the crosswalk.

During the winter months, students and pedestrians are often wearing black and it is difficult to see them coming out of this lot. Better lighting and crosswalks which light up when people are on them would be helpful.

Suggest to make Monroe one way so there is better traffic flow. Can flow either way but would help lessen congestion and cross-over. Also have more off street parking, even a GARAGE!!!

Delivery trucks parked in the eastbound or westbound bike lanes cause a dangerous situation for cyclists that are forced into the traffic lane, and for pedestrians that are trying to cross Monroe but cannot see if a car is coming until they step out into the street to look past the parked truck.

It might be time to turn Monroe into one-way traffic - giving half the street to foot and pedal and the other half to one-way vehicles. Certainly, it would take great planning and concrete movement, but the end result could be fantastic.

Consider a pedestrian only corridor from 14th to 26th. Update traffic patterns so that Van Buren and Harrison are the primary throughways. Add a parking garage to the parking at 20th one block back (behind Pollen, McMennamins) to take cars off the streets on Jackson Ave to offer an alt driving path from the university. It would help to know what's happening to replace Washington as a way east and west, south of campus. I've altered my commute to the university from College Hill to use Monroe now that Washington has been closed.

Need to keep private vehicles out of this intersection during peak hours.

If cars are banned on this part of Monroe, please provide another good thoroughfare to get from campus to downtown. Otherwise it will just push more traffic into other high-pedestrian zones +/- 5 blocks from this street.

If this parking is removed, please add more parking for businesses elsewhere! Could there be diagonal parking on a couple of side streets?

It's nice to have parking in this area, but the parking spots are so close to some of the intersections and crosswalks that cars and pedstrians turn intro traffice or cross traffic abruptly, and it's hard for through-traffic to see/anticipate because of the parked cars

It would be great to half a user-activated crossing light here. There is so much confusion between pedestrians and drivers (pedestrians often don't communicate their intentions clearly, and for drivers it's hard to see because the streetlights are so weak)

This stretch of Arnold Way (and most of Monroe) is so dark! It would be great to have more + stronger streetlights. Many pedestrians and bikes use this corridor for traveling with and across traffic.

A traffic light might be a good addition here - especially if it had an "all-way walk" phase of signal so pedestrians can get from the coffee shop to Gilfillan.
