this intersection has a challenging combination of pedestrian, bicycle, skateboard, car, bus, and delivery truck traffic especially across Monroe at 16th.

This Bus stop is very dark, sometimes the bus drives by people waiting at this stop because they can't be seen unless standing at the curb waving a flashlight.

This intersection does not work well for any of those using it, regardless of their conveyance. Signals are timed poorly, signals are not "smart" or do not appear to be, there are lots of conflict points for everyone here going any direction. A major intersection overhaul would be great, with protection added for the vulnerable users and keeping in mind that walking/riding/rolling does not stop or start here but also flows to/from downtown. Pedestrian scramble crossing? Protected bike lanes?

At the intersection of Monroe and 14th, begin restriction of motorized traffic on Monroe. Consider: one way traffic heading east? Restrict traffic to delivery vehicles and transit only?

New CIC center should have a bike room

Lower the speed limit on Monroe between 14th and 26th to 10-15 mph.

I've worked at OSU for 15 years. I've nearly been hit twice (while biking) by cars making right hand turns turning south onto 14th from Monroe. I've also seen about a half dozen near misses at this intersection over the years. This intersection might benefit by adding bike boxes. Additionally--cyclists traveling east on Monroe are forced to merge into traffic to move around buses that load and unload at the bus stop on Monroe just east of 14th.

If it's possible, switch out the meters for other payment methods

For the whole street:
Signage directing people to parking areas near the businesses.
More accessible parking areas North of Monre St.
A parking garage would be great!
Please don't forget that there are many reasons why people need to drive their cars and delivery and service vehicles still need to access the area.Liked 5 times -
This pull-out area should go back to being a delivery loading/unloading zone all day (8am-5pm) Monday-Friday, not just during the morning hours.

This would be a great opportunity to blend art with function. An example of this would be a pedestrian bridge that is artistic, safe, and light it up with LED's. With that we build ADA crossings at ground level.

Entrance / gateway to campus here

If you focus on a redevelopment of Monroe, you will need to also plan for changes to traffic flow on Jackson and/or Van Buren. More traffic on these streets will only bring the issues faced on Monroe today to these narrower, even worse light and signed streets in the future. Compounding problems for residents, vehicles, and pedestrians alike.

While not directly on Monroe, a parking structure would be a huge help! Both for campus traffic and those wanting to enjoy businesses along this stretch of Monroe.

Much of campus along Monroe feels closed off and uninviting. Creating some sort of gateway/entryway that encourages people to flow into campus would be an improvement. I wonder if part of this could be accomplished by bringing the buildings outside, like the Valley Library did with outdoor seating. Make the businesses along Monroe feel like a part of campus and not the dividing line

I love the feel of the new-ish redesign of Madison. I feel like bringing in some of this would be nice for Monroe and create a sense of continuity.

More free or validated parking with purchase / visit of local business would be great. Would relieve some of the pressure of cars on Monroe OR make it easier for Monroe to be a pedestrian zone

Make this entire section of Monroe a tree lined Prominade.
Perhaps busses and emergency vehicles only.Make it a destination where people want to go and hang out. Art, benches, fountains. Lets dream BIG!

It is REALLY hard to see pedestrans at night along this entire stretch. there is some limited street lights on the road but non that cover the sidewalk.
PLEASE spend some time on a COLD DARK RAINY NIGHT driving this stretch and you will find it is impossible to see pedestrians who then dart across the street.

Please deal with this off set intersection as Winnegar Hall comes down. This is a once in a life time chance to deal with this issue.
This intersection is a real problem.

If you are crossing along the West side of this intersection, it is an incredibly long (And time consuming) cross. Best practice for traffic safety is to make the pedestrian time in the intersection as short as possible. This is compounded by the weird angle that makes it hard for drivers to even see who is in the intersection as they need to look behind over the shoulder to see.

Better marked pedestrian crossing

14th to 26th would be great at pedestrian and transit only. more benches and umbrellas more grass and/or trees and plants. route traffic to Jackson.

Contrary to folks who recommend the proposed one-way traffic drives east, I disagree and think traffic should head west. Most of the businesses people would be driving to are on the right-hand side of the street. If someone needs to get off of Monroe and loop back, being on the right side of the road (driving west) makes the most sense and folks wouldn't have to cut across opposing traffic to get onto the side streets.

People keep inventing a turn lane to turn right onto Kings from the west bound lane of Monroe. there is a wide gap between the lane and the curb because the parking stops there, but there is nothing marking that area as not a turn lane (or anything else)
