Comments for “PCTPA Regional Bikeway Plan Update”
-
Laird Rd north of Rutherford Cyn Rd needs widening to add paved shoulders/bike lanes. Frequently used by cycling clubs, but bikes must be in the traffic lanes.
-
The recent re-paving of Virginiatown Rd. has made it a preferred route for cyclists, but shoulder widening and striping would reduce conflicts with other vehicles.
-
Horseshoe Bar Rd between Brace-Laird and I-80 has particularly poor horizontal and vertical alignments (poor sight distance) and inadequate shoulders, leading to many surprise conflicts between bikes and motor vehicles. Dire need of improvements to improve safety. Heavily used by both bikes and cars.
-
Penryn Road between King and I-80 has bad pavement, inconsistent shoulder width and poor vertical alignment (bad sight distance), which results in unsafe biking conditions. Frequently used by cycle club group rides.
-
Horseshoe Bar Rd east of Placer Elem School has good alignment and shoulders, but west of the school needs shoulder widening and vertical & horizontal alignment improvements to provide better sight distance.

I ride in the area from Auburn up to Alta. Most of the roads in the area need bike lanes & bike signs. It has been my experience that drivers are very considerate - for the most part.
-
This section could use some room for a bicycle.
-
Joeger Rd is a good one but probably not wide enough.

I've ridden this section of road weekly for nearly 30 years and consider it a hazard for cyclists. It is narrow, has limited visibility due to curves, and climbs when traveling north towards downtown Loomis - which means the cyclist is traveling slowly and holding up traffic. Widening the road and adding a bike lane, even if it's only on the northbound, uphill side of the road, would dramatically improve safety for cyclists and frustration for motorists. Thank You!

This used to be nice and smooth for bikes with a big shoulder. It was repaved however making the traffic lane smooth while putting a ridge down the middle of the shoulder and making it quite rough along a good length causing cyclists to ride on or just to the left of the white line despite the big shoulder. Should be paved smooth on the shoulder for bikes.

Crossing HW65 on Blue Oaks is my biggest challenge and where I have the most near misses. I rarely feel completely safe even after riding most work-days for the last 10 years. East bound has gotten better this last year (THANK YOU!). West bound is still a challenge where the fly-over meet up.
-
Recent expansion/changes to Blue Oaks has made the 65 crossing on blue oaks dangerous and complicated. You have to sprint through two lanes of traffic getting on the freeway going east and dodge high speed traffic exiting the freeway going west. A bike under/overpass would be optimal, but at the least a bike sensor giving bikes/peds 60 seconds to cross.
-
southbound bike lane missing from taylor to the 80 overpass bridge. Hard to get to miners ravine trail
-
Bike lane between Sierra College and Fowler on 193 is critical as it is a key bikeway with no good alternative without adding a lot of miles.
-
bike lanes needed going south on Industrial especially at the orchard creek bridge.
-
Cirby Way from Riverside to Rocky Ridge need a Class II or better bike lane. Traffic speeds along this section at unsafe speeds possibly hitting bicyclists.
-
Brace Rd has lots of bike traffic and car traffic but is very narrow
-
I ride on Newcastle Rd. quite a lot and it is very narrow in many places.
-
need a decent shoulder
-
Very unsafe area for cyclists especially with the recent change as to how to access Industrial ave. Its like a crap shoot if you're on a bike and want to head East because more often than not there is an impatient driver who wants to turn South and make their way to Industrial..
-
There is not a safe path from west of Foothills to east of Hwy 65 along Blue Oaks via bicycle.
-
Would love for this path to connect to the path at Veteran's Memorial Park ... we take this path often with small children and wish to avoid streets as much as possible.
-
Widen dry creek road to make room for bike lanes and mark them. this is a highly traveled bike route and is dangerous for both the bikers and vehicular traffic.
-
Please repair the washed out section. This trail has been closed since the winter storms.
-
It would be nice to have a bike lane on SR49 between Auburn and Cool, but likely cost prohibitive. This is a popular route for road bikers.
