There's always gravel on the road and bike path here. In general Farmer's Loop shoulders and bike path need more frequent maintenance and cleaning. I prefer wide shoulders to bike paths.
-
The Wendell Street Bridge needs a serious upgrade to make bicycle traffic safer. The access areas are poor, the sidewalk is too narrow.
-
The walk/bike count will be low in this area because it is too dangerous to be walking or biking here.
-
Geist Road from Post office east has no curb and the sidewalk is dangerous to ride on due to many business parking lot entrances, side roads, and driveways. When riding on sidewalks, motorists do not see cyclists and this can result in accidents.
-
This is a very poorly designed intersection for biking, someone tried but just didn't understand how cyclists ride. It is awkward, inconvenient, frustrating and dangerous. Surely there must be guidelines for cyclists at intersections, this is a text book example of how not to do it.

Somewhere in this area is the logical place for an under or over pass to connect the mushing trails to the UAF trails. Combined with a crossing of the Steese near the cemetery would make it possible to link the Birch Hill, Creamer's Field, and UAF trail systems.
-
If bicycle traffic must remain on sidewalks, would it be possible to have pedestrian/cycling bridge(s) installed adjacent to the Univ. Ave. road bridge. Even one would give access by bicycle and child trailer. The current access is not conducive to bringing kids either in a trailer or on their own bicycles.
-
Somewhere in this area an underpass or overpass could connect the Birch Hill Ski Trail system to the mushing trails. Near the east entry to the University would be the best place to locate another crossing to connect to the UAF trail system. People could walk, bike, run and ski from trail system to trail system.
-
Yankovich and Miller Hill need wider shoulders to accomodate runners and bikers. A separate bike path is not as safe as wide shoulders.
-
Please add small amount of pavement to fill in the height difference between the trail and bridge. This occurs at both ends of the bridge.
-
This path needs rehabilitation!
-
Somehow, the exit off southbound Johansen needs to have increased visibility. People traveling eastbound on the sidewalk on College cannot be seen very well until the car is right on top of them.
-
This whole area is super scary! Drivers do not watch for peds/bikes and sometimes, even if they see you, they will push the issue and nearly hit you so they can scurry to their shopping!
-
The Old Nenana Hwy is a natural loop at the end of the Parks Hwy Path, but it is very narrow, has sharp blind, steep curves, no speed enforcement and towards the end, major potholes / gravel
-
The sidewalk on the right hand side of the road ends at the intersection, forcing pedestrians to the other side of the road to keep going down Alumni... until the sidewalk starts again on the right side at the intersection of College and Alumni. Why?
-
There are NO lights on most of this road. Add lamps for safety!!!
-
Keep the ATV's and snowmachines off the bike path.
Get the cops to enforce the signs that say "no motorized vehicles"
Twice I've called the troopers to report ATV's on the bike path and twice I've been told that calling the troopers is useless because they won't send someone out to hand out citations.
That's not helpful

4-wheeler traffic eroding edges and throws a lot of gravel on the path in many places.
-
All of Yankovich is scary as heck and I did my adult bike re-entry in Boston. The entire road needs wide shoulders on both sides.
-
Please be aware that as the details of a proposed Gold Hill bike path have become more understood, the vast majority of local residents seem to be opposing it. This includes the considerable bike community in this area. I have yet to meet a bike commuter living along Gold Hill who supports the project. I urge the Borough to provide a follow up meeting to the December(?) discussion that was held in Ester. In my opinion, perceptions have changed considerably.
-
bike path is in terrible shape on south side of airport road.
-
sidewalk is too narrow and edge drops off frequently along this section of the path. Very easy to catch a wheel if you ride close to the edge to share sidewalk with pedestrians
-
university ave chena river bridge needs much wider sidewalks. Very dangerous crossing with a bike. The Mt McKinley Bank family bike ride crosses this route every year.
-
bike path to soccer fields would be nice.
-
A bike route around the airport would be nice in the summer
