The Farmer's Loop Bike Path has been in disrepair for decades. There are thousands of families along this road and it could be a major recreational opportunity and safety upgrade if this path were as nice all along as it is on the west end.

  2. May 18 2011

Many bikes travel along Sheep Creek Rd, often in packs. These shoulders should be widened or the trail running parallel upgraded and extended. This would create a wonderful loop around Goldstream and Ballaine Rd while improving safety for cars, bikers and walkers.

  3. May 18 2011

My commute includes University Ave S, Davis Rd and Peger. All 3 have wide shoulders for riding on BUT they are covered in gravel. This is especially bad on Davis. Clearing the gravel (and broken glass) off shoulders will be very helpful.

  4. May 18 2011

The supposed "bike route" west bound on 1st ave is not easy to use on a bike. The curb is 12" off the ground and there are insufficient ramps at intersections. Especially southbound on Cushman, turning right at the light onto 1st. For bikes and pedestrians to use the sidewalk together all along the bridge and 1st ave. is dangerous.

  5. May 18 2011

A bike lane is needed on Cowles. I don't know where one could be placed. The side walk is unusable for bikes and I don't use them anyway. Motor vehicles don't treat bikes with the same respect as a vehicle when on a side walk.

  6. May 18 2011

The entire length of Illinois street is unsafe for bikers. Especially traveling north before Minnie Street. The hedge is at the roads edge and gives a biker no where to go in an emergency. This road needs a bike lane badly.

Chena Small tracks is a high use road all seasons. Kids who live on the south side must walk to school. It has no lighting, no shoulder, 40mph. There is also a home for the disabled, day care centers and is used by walkers, bikers, snowmachiners, horseback riders, joggers, elderly, children etc. There is a park at the end end, and a boat launch site. in winter it is also used to access the ice bridge. Children need safe access to school.

  8. May 17 2011

Gravel is a major problem prior to this point and (especially due to narrow shoulders)beyond. There would be plenty of volunteer sweepers if that is possible.

  9. May 17 2011

I walk and run my dog along Chena Small Tracts Road on a regular basis, and there are no pathways or shoulders along the road for pedestrian use. As a vehicle operator, one has to drive with sever caution in the summer when pedestrian traffic is high along the sides of the road. People enjoy walking their pets to the river park/ boat launch at the end of the road, and it is dangerous for them to do so because of the lack of a sidewalk/pathway. In the winter, people have to drive extra cautious because students of varying ages are often times waiting along the side of the road in the dark waiting for a bus and it is very difficult to see these individuals, especially when it is snowing. In ignoring the problem, the DOT is encouraging an accident to occur.

  10. May 17 2011

This crossing need to be re-engineered. When going downhill, you are flying into pea gravel and have to weave back and forth for crossing Fieldler Road

  11. May 17 2011

New low income housing and senior living center. Sidewalks are needed on Kellum and McGowan

  12. May 17 2011

Biking along South Cushman? Good luck. Curbs are old and not designed for bikes. Car dealerships regularly have bumpers out over the curbs. Power poles are often in the sidewalk too.

  13. May 17 2011

How about a bike path along the power easement? Kids trying to get to Watershed School have to take a goat path to avoid the busy traffic on Dale Road.

  14. May 17 2011

Bike ramps poorly designed. Not compatible for bikes, not in line with bike traffic flow.

  15. May 17 2011

The bike ramps here need to be redone. Too narrow and not designed for any bike traffic flow

  16. May 17 2011

This corner is a nightmare. Too steep coming down, pea gravel at the bottom, and a sharp corner as well. A major design change is necessary, by someone who rides a bike.

  17. May 17 2011

What is the bridge to nowhere there for? Remove it. Get rid of the overly steep hill.

  18. May 17 2011

The sidewalks along thesouth side of 3rd Street, need to be replaced. As they are cracked, uneven, and of a very poor quality.

  19. May 17 2011

The bike ramp here was designed by someone who doesn't ride bikes. When you hit the button to cross the street, you are forced to jump the curb as the ramp is in the wrong spot. Also, trying to turn left from crossing the street, onto the bike path on the west side of the Steese, you are forced to corner across the lawn there, as there is no room.

  20. May 17 2011

There needs to be a bike path between Trainor Gate (near Tanana JR High) and River Road (on Fort Wainwright). And then along River Road to join the existing bike path, that was blocked off next to Birchwood.

  21. May 17 2011

Shannon Drive and Trainor Gate Road needs to have the stop line repainted. Cars CONSTANTLY, do rolling stops into the bike path. I have nearly been hit dozens of times. The owner of the property there needs to remove a large chunk of fencing, so cars can see cyclists coming from the Northwest.

  22. May 17 2011

The bike paths on Fort Wainwright have expanded. HOWEVER, there is no way of crossing post, when post is closed. There needs to be an alternate route. To get to North Pole, without getting on the Richardson Hwy.

  23. May 17 2011

A crosswalk needs to be installed at the corner of McGown and Cowles next to the Library entrance. One of our residents was knocked due to a speeding motorist. With Weeks Field Development and Raven Landing campuses across the street, and bicyclists coming and going, there needs to be more protection for the pedestrians.

  24. May 17 2011

There is almost no room to walk on the East side of Illinois Street between Slater and Minnie Street. The lot along side the road has large bushes that take up all of the shoulder - they need to be cut back.

  25. May 17 2011

Dyke Road has no shoulder. There are hundreds of people who bike and walk this road to the flood control project and to Laurance. It is unsafe in its current condition.
