  1. May 06 2011

The sidewalks are busy with students so bikes have to ride on the road and it is very narrow

  2. May 06 2011

There is a wide shoulder but it peters out after a very short time to a scary small width

  3. May 06 2011

There is no shoulder along College. Bicyclist frequently ride on the sidewalk which is extremely dangerous given the high number of intersecting roads.

  4. May 05 2011

Shoulders are nice and wide, but the winter gravel isn't cleaned up early enough. Also, the sections that have been chip coated (tar + gravel) instead of paved (smooth asphalt) are much harder on a bicycle. For commuting, it's rougher and slower than it should be because of all the chip-coat sections.

  5. May 05 2011

Miller Hill Rd needs wider and well maintained shoulders. It (and Yankovich) are well used by runners and bicyclists and is much too narrow with almost no shoulder on either side.

  6. May 04 2011

A very nice separated pathway, which goes underneath Peger, simply ends in a residential neighborhood with no direction or connection to other non-motorized facilities.

  7. May 04 2011

This is such an awkward area with the curbs and no transition for bikers to go onto the bridge. The bridge--which is closed to vehicular traffic--should be a nice spot to bike across, but it's awful.

  8. May 04 2011

This part of the bike path along 2nd/1st avenue until Downtown is in extreme disrepair.

  9. May 04 2011

The bike path disappears if you are biking on the right side of the road heading Northwest. Right about at the Fair grounds. WHY???

  10. May 04 2011

This stretch of the bike path is in extreme disrepair with huge pot holes and cracks.

  11. May 04 2011

Part of the riverside bike path is lovely, the part starting from Peger rd. is not. It's narrow and bumpy. Their is also a blind corner under the road and you have to slow down a lot to go under the bridge. The fact that the path goes under the bridge is great though. Also, this path needs lines down the middle. Walkers and bikers routinely take up the entire path. Even where the path is wide enough for two-way traffic. There is also an annoying, cement, garbage can placed in the middle of the path that would be easy for a biker to slam into if they were not paying attention.

  12. May 04 2011

I agree with this comment. This type of light sequence also makes the biker/walker wait longer. Better yet, why not put a tunnel under this busy intersection for pedestrians/bikers?

  13. May 02 2011

The pedestrian crossing at 1st and Barnette needs to be evaluated for safety and function. Wil it stay that way until the Barnette Bridge opens?

  14. April 28 2011

It is very important to construct a bike path that will SAFELY lead bicyclists (including young children) across the Wendell St. bridge and onto the downtown bike path. There are many individuals in Island Homes, Shannon Park, Hamilton Acres, Birch Hill and the north end of FWW that could access downtown for a destination and to events without bring their cars. This would benefit more then just these residents but the business downtown too. This should be done in as timely a manner as possible!

Access to Old Steese/Wendell St Brdige from the north side is ridiculous. Whether approaching the bridge from the east or west, you have to negotiate a flight of stairs or detour to the Minnie/Old Steese intersection. Far preferable to provide bike access at the bridge, though.

  17. April 26 2011

There are maybe 300 households in Island Homes. Two things at this location would help: a ramp from the underpass connecting to existing Steese bike trail AND a completed, intentinal bike route through/into Graehl Landing Park to the Wendell St. Bridge where a CRITICAL third item would help: bike ramp access from Front Street onto Old Steese/Wendell Street Bridge.

We need a ped/bicycle/trail overpass or underpass to cross the Steese hwy in order to connect Birch Hill & Chena Hot Springs with Farmers Loop and Johansen Expressway with evential connection to University. Thank you.

  19. April 25 2011

We need a pedestrian/bicycle path from the railroad station to the downtown area. Thank you.

  20. April 25 2011

Pleaseconnect the current pedestrian/bicyle overpass south across the Johansen expressway as we need a safe way for peds/bikes to get across the expressway. Thank you.

Cross Walks here are dangerous. People turning right do not look for cyclist and pedestrians. I had a close call with a Front End loader turning right. I had the walk signal. The driver never even looked at the cross walk. I was yelling and looking at him. He finally stopped in the cross walk and I had a ride around. My suggestion would be to add a No right on Red Sign.

  22. April 22 2011

sidewalk ends and should be connected to path to the west

  23. April 21 2011

Construct the Goldhill Road bike/ped path.

  24. April 21 2011

Need bike/pedestrian path from Airport Way to North Pole.

  25. April 12 2011

Dangerous area, as separated path is merged onto sidewalk it is forced to cross two onramps to the Parks Hwy on pedestrian facilities that are lacking.
