There is a large area right here that is unused and unlandscaped. This could be a prime location for a shaded green area, dog park, or just a better landscaped area.

I agree. I feel like during this section of the canal, I'm walking behind industry instead of enjoying nature.

The sign out front is tattered and the whole place looks careworn. I don't know if you have a future plan for it, but surely it could be repurposed into something pretty.

The Riparian Preserve could use an overhaul... the popularity of the preserve near the library is obvious and an update to the preserve is long overdue. Most weekends parking can't even be found around the Gilbert Public Library, why not update the Neely Preserve and create another space for residents to visit. Right now this land is VERY underutilized. The new pedestrian bridge gives direct access to downtown gilbert and could be a focal point of North Gilbert.

Part of an overhead/steel structure collapsed here. I can't see it on the map, but part of the building has fallen down. If this land could be redeveloped it could have very nice pedestrian/bike access to downtown. Currently the trash in these yards and razor wire brings down the overall area.

This section of the trail smells pretty bad and the chain link fence blocking the Riparian Preserve from the trail is pretty trashy looking. If there were access to the preserve, better lighting and views of the wildlife this could be a nice section of the trail, currently I try to ride as fast as possible thru this section.

Agreed, there are several places where venting from a sewer system is very strong. This is one of them. The other one is along the same trail about half-way between Val Vista and Greenfield.

Also, this stretch of trail has water valve boxes that attract bees. -
This trail could be upgraded for a more scenic pedestrian area. Currently it is often full of trash and looks fairly trashy overall. Many people utilize this daily in spite of the overall disrepair and run down landscaping. This could be a beautiful space for residents to utilize if it were upgraded and activated.

The canal path has so much potential! If only it could be landscaped and made more attractive, especially for walkers sharing the path with bicyclists.

This park could use some updating and modern features. It is busy every night of the week and weekends too with softball games... but no other part of the park is being utilized. Families could easily enjoy some additional equipment and shaded attractions to activate other areas of the park.

Add pedestrian bridge over canal somewhere along this stretch of trail

Agreed! That would be so helpful as well as PATH LIGHTING FOR NIGHT TIME! EXTREMELY dark at night. There is no path lighting at all. Would feel much safer with better lighting as well as less worried for tripping or falling and hurting myself. Please!

The Powerline Trail is a great asset to the area, but it needs some TLC. There's often trash, sections of the canal are broken, and dirt is washed away.

Still needs lots of clean up. The canal is infested with the invasive plant globe chamomille.
Like Liked 0 timesThis area has not been improved since the original post in 2022. Some planned landscaping with trees and bushes is badly needed. A nice example of what can be done to improve canal trails is to look at what the City of Chandler has done on the Paseo Trail that runs North and South.

There needs to be a traffic light here. Traffic has increased a lot and new community being developed will bring more traffic. It takes a long time to turn left. If youre turning right and a big truck is turning left, I cant see the traffic, it can be dangerous to turn left as you cant see the traffic coming.

Require weinberger to clean, sweep streets every week or more to take down dust/debris from clients

We live off of Cooper. Us and our neighbors have had to deal with flat repairs from nails picked up along Cooper. We agree with the need for a scheduled sweep of Cooper. This maintenance expense should be levied on the transfer station business. Also have officers issuing citations for uncovered loads traveling to the transfer station
