MDSHA/MDOT should decrease the speed limit to 25 mph here. It is 25 mph to the north and 25 mph to the south. But for some reason, it increases for this roughly 1/2 mile stretch of Rhode Island Ave to 30 mph. MDSHA should add traffic calming measures to make it look and feel less like a limited-access freeway, and slow traffic; but, at a minimum, the speed limit should be consistent to help discourage drivers from traveling at fata speeds. Hundreds of new housing units have been built here in the last few years. We should be supporting more walking and biking in this area with slower streets.

MDOT should help county and municipal governments identify ways to braid and blend state and federal funding sources to build safe pedestrian and bicycle facilities on lower stress routes that parallel high-traffic, high-speed, high-injury state roads (e.g., including finding ways to shift the funds for building unsafe bike and ped infrastructure along state roads to instead build all ages and abilities bike and ped facilities on an adjacent local streets). For example, a bike boulevard and traffic calming along Riverdale Road and Queensbury Road would provide a connection between the Purple Line, MARC, and Metro, and will be more appealing to a larger group of people compared to the 5-foot unprotected bike lane that MDSHA previously suggested along East-West Highway. MDOT should not abandon building bicycle and pedestrian facilities along these state roads, but if MDSHA's policy will be to continue to build unprotected bike lanes next to multi-lane roads with 30+ mph speed limits, those funds would be better spent and more effective elsewhere.

The northbound travel lanes on Bladensburg Road are misaligned from the DC and MD sides of Eastern Ave NE. It leads to drivers swerving and erratically changing lanes, which is dangerous for people walking and biking nearby. Please work with DDOT to align the travel lanes.

Encourage the legislature to update state law to prohibit parking bike lanes (e.g., amend MD Code, Transportation, § 21-1003).

Nearby businesses installed parking in the marked, on-street, unprotected bike lane here. It decreases safety for all road users.

MDSHA should update its policies to install signals with leading pedestrian intervals and automatic pedestrian phases (i.e., people don't need to press a beg button) by default. At a minimum, MDSHA should update its policies to install signals with leading pedestrian intervals and automatic pedestrian phases (i.e., people don't need to press a beg button) by default within 1 mile of Metro, Purple Line, and MARC stations.

Please install signals with leading pedestrian intervals and automatic pedestrian phases to make this intersection safer to traverse via walking or cycling. This is a major walking/cycling thoroughfare for residents of Hyattsville and Riverdale to access the Hyattsville Public Library, and this need will only grow when the new rec center is completed next to the library. It is extremely daunting and dangerous to cross this intersection on foot/wheels, especially with children.

This intersection is a mess during rush hour with drivers blocking the box. Part of the problem is the misaligned approaches. Part of the problem is a lack of enforcement. MDOT should work with Riverdale Park and PG County to realign Queensbury to create a t-intersection here. MDOT should encourage the legislature to allow more opportunities for localities to install red light cameras.

Baltimore-Washington Pkwy/US-295 is one of several barriers (e.g., Anacostia River, CSX train tracks, I-495) to biking and walking to the east-west in Prince George's County. The streets that cross it are spaced far apart, with high volumes of traffic, high vehicle speeds, and hostile to any mode of travel other than motor vehicle. Creating a trail connection here would be a huge improvement to connecting neighborhoods, providing safe walking and biking options, and increasing access to the Purple Line Station that will open soon at East-West Hwy/MD-410 and Kennilworth/MD-201. Perhaps the nearby culvert could be redesigned to also create a safe passage for people walking and rolling.

This road is designed to function like a limited-access highway. It's really a barrier to people that want to walk, bike, and take the bus. MDSHA should redesign and rebuild it to better connect the nearby neighborhoods, businesses, and make it welcoming to people traveling outside of cars.
