It can be difficult to see the stop sign at this intersection (heading East on Jenevein toward downtown). There's a very pretty tree that obscures the sign partially. Please do *not* cut down the whole tree under any circumstances, but if there's a way of trimming the one branch that's at the right height to block the sign for drivers, that would be beneficial for safety.

The lights here for South Airport Boulevard going northbound are quite close together, and I have on multiple occasions seen drivers run the first red light because they see a green at the second red light. I'm not sure how to solve this problem, but wanted to flag it.

There needs to be more daylighting around the crosswalks on Oak near the school. Specifically at Oak and Niles theres a very large vehicle that typically parks that makes it impossible to see if pedestrians are waiting to cross. Extra daylighting around these crosswalks would be helpful.

it can be very difficult to make left turns onto highway 1 on this whole stretch, so drivers make risky maneuvers.

Agree, and the way CalTrans is going, we won’t be seeing ANY major fix before 2030 according to a recent Hwy One Safety Workshop put on by tge County. In Montara there at least is a center “holding lane” do cars can enter the Highway and wait to get up to speed more safely. That could be an interim “FIX” for Moss Beach, since nothing has been done since l moved there in 1988, and I will likely be deceased by the time they ever do anything. At the very least, it would create an “acceleration lane” for those who must turn north without the benefit of the long-promised Roundabout at Cypress.
Like Liked 1 timeWe could use that exact same interim fix for Miramar where you are risking your life to walk, bike, drive from one side of the road to the other.

Better signage on light cycles for drivers on Jenevein -- some signage that would indicate that each cycle runs separately (ie, you can immediately start making turns). Because people unfamiliar with the area do not drive right away, this ends up delaying drivers, who then end up running this light on red after waiting through the cycle. Clear signage indicating the other direction doesn't move at the same time -- or a light cycle with a turn arrow -- would solve this. The timing doesnt need to change, but the communication to drivers should.

This intersection is dangerous for pedestrians. Specifically, one example is that there are bushes on the park and ride corner of Veterans/Whipple that prevents pedestrians who are crossing to the park and ride to get their company's shuttle from seeing oncoming cars turning right. This intersection does not prioritize pedestrian safety.

This intersection is dangerous for children who walk and ride to Hatch Elementary school. Suggested fix: street striping and school zone signage.

main route for children to get to school (Hatch) there are no cross walks, sidewalks, bike lanes or signage that you are in a school zone. Child was hit here last year with no corrective action taken
Like Liked 1 timeHigh-visibility crosswalks and continuous unobstructed sidewalks are needed in this area on 3rd Ave up to Central Ave. where many Hatch Elementary school children walk and bicycle to school.

Mirada road erosion is rapidly increasing. New. roadway lines painted in April 2023 on pavement have already shown massive broken parts that have fallen into the beach below. 2023 Winter storms expedited the erosion and rock barriers were greatly reduced. This has reduced the shoulder so now peds, cyclists and cars mix on this narrow section of roadway.

Sadly, the County does not wish to spend money on the Coastside and HMB us broke, so the erosion is going to continue. The only hope will be the dredging that is planned for the Princeton Harbor Area.

This merge is extremely dangerous for bicyclists who intend to continue going straight down E Grand while drivers simultaneously are turning right on Haskins. I wish I could say that the addition of bike lane paint had helped here, but I just watched a near miss a couple days ago. Additionally, it is almost impossible to safety walk across Haskins even with the crosswalk signal; again when cars are turning right, the shrubbery is out of control along the sidewalk, blocking visibility of pedestrians.

The section of NB Rollins Road between Adrian Rd. and Millbrea Ave. is poorly signalized and poorly designed.
1. Traffic turning left from SB Rollins Rd. into the Fastfood/Car Wash/Gas Station shopping center routinely block NB Rollins Rd. traffic.
2. Cars turning left from SB Rollins Rd. into the shopping center often back-up onto Millbrae Ave. causing traffic congestion at that intersection.
3. Cars leaving the shopping center and turning right onto NB Rollins Rd. often do not come to a full stop before turning and often have near-miss collisions with traffic on NB Rollins Rd., who are trying to get into the right lane for a right turn onto EB Millbrea Ave.
4. The Traffic Lights at the Millbrae-Rollins intersection are poorly located, confusing and cause significant back-up of traffic on Rollins Rd.All of this causes driver anxiety/stress which results in them taking higher risk driving actions than they normally would at a well designed intersection.
This is a safety concern.

Mirada Bridge

Bridge closure approaching 4 years and bypass diversion of pedestrians and cyclists onto Highway 1 has eliminated the shoulder for cars and has mixed peds and cyclists on the other side barrier, which is stressful for many citizens. More auto accidents at this section as the roadway is reduced. Bridge was placed in May 4, 2023, but stairs delayed opening of the entire section, at least 4 months. While construction is almost complete, but let's do better next time.
Like Liked 3 timesLet’s hope they remove the detour along the highway soon. I am tired of that orange K-Rail barrier. The stairs are probably going to be finished before Thanksgiving, fingers crossed before Halloween!

On SB El Camino, in the left turn lane (turning from El Camino onto EB Milbrae Ave), for the first cars in line, the view of pedestrians crossing El Camino in a west-bound direction is obstructed by street signs. While the intersections is well managed with signals, this creates the potential for a pedestrian to be unseen by drivers, especially after sunset. It is unsafe.

The merging of the 101 NB Bayshore Exit, Bayshore Blvd and Bike Route at this location is very dangerous for cyclists. Cars exit at high speed, vehicles already on Bayshore are at high speed and the markings, warnings and location off the Bike Path are insufficient for a reasonable safety margin. It is a poorly designed intersection.

Vehicles routinely exceed the 45mph speed limit, usually traveling at 55-60 mph on this stretch of Bayshore Blvd. There are pedestrians (no sidewalk), bicycles, buses, heavy trucks and vehicles making unprotected left turns. This is a very dangerous roadway.

A pedestrian crosswalk with overhead flashing red/yellow lights may be helpful at the bus stop area to assist people walking across to catch the bus or shuttle.
