Traffic calming needed. There are few stop signs so cars drove too fast on this road. Will be exacerbated once traffic calming on neighboring street poplar is put in place as, without similar measures here, will increase traffic, speeding. This street has no sidewalks and cars parked along the road so pedestrians and bikes, including many many children who live on the road, must share it with the cars, who regularly drove too fast. Need a way to slow down the cars.

Holly is a residential street that is used as a feeder road to 101. The road is congested with traffic zooming way past the speed limit of 25. Trucks ply on the road despite being disallowed. There are many young families on the street that have raised concerns to no avail. The pedestrian. path way is extremely close to the traffic and many accidents have occurred here.
This road needs a serious rethink including making it closed or one way with 2 lane traffic rather than 4.

Very wide intersection on steep hill/blind curve with no controlled crosswalk (no crosswalk at all) with high volume school pedestrian and driver traffic. Needs controlled intersection to control speed, assure visability. Needs sidewalks throughout for pedestrian refuge and safety.

This multi-use trail is designed poorly, as there are no zebra crossings to cross the streets coming off HW1, so cars turning off HW1 don’t stop. The crossings are very wide, especially if you are with kids.

Agree 100%. Very difficult crossing here. There is a lot going on with cars coming on and off 1 as well as crossing it, going very fast, plus the trail, no sidewalks on west side. This is a major school commute route for elementary school kids.
Like Liked 4 timesthere is no cross walk for school kids to cross busy HWY 1, also accidents happen often as there is no turn our lane for cars and cars going north will turn both east and west at the same time
Like Liked 2 timesAgree, as a resident of Filbert I see many cars turning on to Filbert from HWY 1 and there are no safety lanes and no crosswalks to indicate pedestrians and bike crossings. This is a school route for children.

Dangerous intersection to cross with kids on our way to school. Lots of cars & buses zooming down Poplar.

Agree. There is no safe space to walk. Really limits ability to get around town in a sustainable way. Cars, trucks, busses use this narrow road, which must be shared with peds and bikes and they all go too fast.
Like Liked 2 timesThere are no sidewalks no bike lanes, no stop signs. Children use this route to get to school, extremely dangerous
Like Liked 1 timeCannot emphasize this enough. Crossing hwy 1 walking or biking east into downtown is so dangerous -no sidewalk-

Especially vehicles taking right (on red) driving north on 1, they turn east so fast onto poplar and I've experienced numerous close calls -
Poplar/highway 1 needs to be upgraded to a protected intersection for increased safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Very dangerous intersection for pedestrians and bikes. Cars run red light regularly. The sidewalk disappears on the east side of route 1 after the cross walk making it very difficult to safely walk to and from town, to and from the beach. People also drive very fast on poplar in all directions to catch the light, because they are still at route 1 speeds or just because it’s an open road- traffic calming is seriously needed for safety.

There are cars constantly driving in the bike lanes here.
Consider putting the bike lanes on one side and the cars on the other. With one bike lane of both sides the cars drift into them.Liked 1 time

I share your frustration with these inept drivers (which is almost every driver on this road), but I'm against a two-way bike lane on one side of the road. In my experience, this creates too many conflicts at driveways and intersections where drivers will not expect bikes coming from their right side and having the right of way. The problem here can be solved by removing the underutilized on-street parking on the west side, and installing barriers or bollards to protect the bike lanes.

Very unsafe route for bicycles. Traffic moves at high speed on this route which is the only passable route between these parts of San Carlos and Belmont. It’s also the only route to several schools in the area. The road is also very narrow. Traffic calming and dedicated bike lanes in both directions would help.

There are many accidents on this part of 92 between Hwy 1 and Main Street. There is terrible pedestrian and biking infrastructure around here and no safe way to cross Hwy 92 along Hwy 1

This intersection and much of Kelly Ave is hazardous for cyclists. Drivers come off the Hwy going too fast, multiple schools are along this street as well as two bike shops. this is a major corridor to downtown and the Beach. It can get crowded during school time and during the summers/ weekends. Lots of kids in this area.

Agree. There have been multiple serious accidents on Kelly involving bikes and pedestrians. The sidewalk along Kelly stops part way down the street. Cars are racing toward limited beach parking or driving poorly from hours in traffic. They drive fast and with lack of attention.
Like Liked 3 timesthis is a main corridor for school children riding their bikes to hatch or to cunha and seacrest yet there is little to no bike infra going east/west. THere should also be a crosswalk on both north and south sides.
Also, the island for pedestrians is dangerously small, you can barely fit a stroller on it and cars don't slow when making the right around this island
Like Liked 3 timesThe intersection of Kelly Avenue and Hwy 1 is one of the most highly used intersections by Cabrillo Unified School District students. It is less than half a mile from 3 schools and a mile from Half Moon Bay High School. The crosswalks are long and the pork chop island and right turn lane is not safe for pedestrians/bicyclists using the crosswalk. We would like yellow high-visibility crosswalks, curb extensions to shorten crosswalks and protected bike lanes.
Like Liked 2 timesThis intersection is dangerous for cyclists traveling west on Kelly. There is no safe way to cross Kelly to get to the correct side of the street, so cyclists are forced to ride on the left side of the street on the sidewalk, into oncoming pedestrian traffic.
Like Liked 2 timesCan we get a retro-reflective green bike lane between Kelly and Main St on Hwy 1 on both NB and SB directions? I’ve seen many a cyclists riding on 1 getting almost run down by cars turning onto 92 and New Leaf shopping center.

Lots of pedestrian-involved accidents on this street. There are no continuous sidewalks, and many drivers are going very fast on their way to and from the beach.

main corridor for beach traffic, pedestrians walk in the middle of the street (no sidewalks), no bike paths, NOT ADA compliant at all, hazard

This intersection is very dangerous, there have been lots of crashes here over the years, and it is next to a multi-use path that students use to get to the elementary school.

Agree with this comment. There is also no safe way for bikes and pedestrians to cross 1 here, even though it would be a major corridor into town and one of few streets that’s has sidewalks east of 1. Sidewalks are required on the west side of filbert as it’s a common route to nearby elementary school. Traffic calming is also desperately needed as people tear down filbert all the time (more cars go way to fast than go a safe speed). Speed bumps should be installed or better road marking at least.
Like Liked 4 timesMultiple vehicle/cyclist collisions have happened here, one as recent as last weekend (9/1/23) in which a cyclist was taken away in an ambulance.
Like Liked 3 timesVery dangerous- pedestrians and bikes cross while cars are traveling at full speed. Why not a pedestrian bridge over the highway?
AND- cars are taking lefts across the highway. In the 5 years since I’ve been here I have seen at least 10 collisions. Traffic needs to slow and there should be no left turns across the highway.

Enforcement on west Poplar in HMB should be provided by tge SMC Sheriff’s Dept. But likely
Like Liked 0 timesIs not due to minimal staffing. HMB needs to step up and pay for full staffing in their next contract
with the SMC Sheriffs’s Dept. going forward.
