Cars blast down the hill here coming into this commercial strip. Is there a way to slow vehicles coming down here? this is a blind corner leading to a very large and convoluted 6 leg intersection

Please don't ever add pedestrian beg buttons to this intersection. A pedestrian phase on recall is the ONLY thing that isn't terrible about walking to BART every day. High car speeds, failure to yield to pedestrians, wide lanes, no street trees, missing crosswalks, broken pavement are all pretty bad, but at least I don't have to press an awkwardly placed button and wait an extra minute or two every time I want to cross the street. Please don't change this signal.

Why is this brand new intersection missing a crosswalk? The traffic light hasn't even been turned on, but a poor design has already rendered it dangerous to our community!

Pedestrians shouldn't need to press a button to cross the street. This signal doesn't need to be actuated. A fixed timing signal here would be just fine, especially if coordinated with other traffic signals on Telegraph. NY and SF both largely rely on fixed time signals and they both have much busier streets than Oakland. We need to stop creating intersections that are so monstrous to pedestrians. Have Oakland's traffic engineers ever walked in this city? Do they realize the frustration, danger, and misery they cause?

Lakeside Green Streets should not be implemented with missing crosswalks. Most of the new intersections are designed without a crosswalk on at least one leg of the intersection. Oakland needs to stop creating new projects that fail to provide complete crosswalks.

We are prone to spill over traffic from both MLK and Market, and the street lacks consistent speed humps, stop signs, cross walks, curb cut outs, and has zero traffic circles. As evidenced by our recent Neighborhood Night Out and Halloween festivities, this neighborhood is thriving and has more young families having children and/or moving here to plant roots. We must make our streets safer.

I have read the proposed Bicycle Boulevard Policy, and would love to know what progress is being made to act on some of the recommendations (i.e. speed humps and traffic circles).

Well, all along 51st Street between Lawton and Broadway many drivers drive way too fast!!
Could we have stop signs on each block or at least at Lawton, Manila, Desmond?

This stretch of Lakeside/Harrison from this crazy intersection up to Grand is bigger than it needs to be (heading north and south). Let's reduce the space for traffic, add protected bike lanes, and reduce the distance pedestrians have to walk to cross the street.

This section of Lowell is narrow like a residential street, but lots of through-traffic uses it at high speeds to get between Market and Stanford to skip the light at Market/Stanford. It could be closed to traffic with bollards at the north end where it intersects with Market, directing traffic to stay on Market. or we could add speed bumps or other traffic calming.

Intersection at Market / 63rd / Lowell is difficult to cross. There are no crosswalks and I often see pedestrians run to the median, wait, and then run again to cross. Drivers go faster than the speed limit and there are two lanes in each direction on Market. And lots of cars also use Lowell to go north and south as a shortcut to/from Stanford. Cars heading north on Lowell and merging make the intersection especially complicated to cross.

The walking signal to cross MLK at 59th St. is too short for many people and kids to cross safely (particularly since it's right next to senior housing).

This intersection has not stop sign and driver heading east and west speed. The traffic design at this intersection was based off an old plan where Racine Street was used as an alternative route paralell to Telegraph Avenue. The entrance to Racine at 58th Street has been close to through traffic-there is a community park. This thoughfare is currently a deadend/one way street. A traffic study needs to be conducted. Furthermore, foot traffic and car traffic has increased because of the popularity of the Bushrod Baseball Fields being used for Soccer, & Baseball.

In addition, this area is zoned as residential and commercial.. The sidewalk are in dire need of repairs as tree growth has obstructed the sidewalk. There are children walking from schools in the area-Sankofa, Peralta , and Jewish Community Center.

Why is there no crosswalk connecting the Emeryville Greenway to Berkeley Bowl? This intersection needs a crosswalk on the east side of the street.

This intersection needs a crosswalk on both north and south sides of the intersection. A pedestrian on the north side of 53rd St currently has to cross three streets instead of one to get across San Pablo Ave!

When southbound cars on Webster have a green light they can go through to the south or make a left turn onto 9th St. During this phase no vehicle movements conflict with the crosswalk on the west side of Webster. This creates unneeded delay for pedestrians. During the southbound vehicle phase pedestrians should have a walk signal on the west side of Webster. Likewise, during the eastbound vehicle phase there should be a walk phase on the north side of 9th St. Similar problems and solutions exist at all of the Chinatown pedestrian scramble intersections.

Add pedestrian signals at intersections near 12th and MLK, but ensure that pedestrian phases are on recall at all times to avoid creating new pedestrian delay

There should be a crosswalk to allow pedestrians to walk from the east side of MLK at 47th St to the east side of MLK at the Children's Hospital. Forcing pedestrians to cross to the west side of the street at 47th and then back to the east side at 52nd is an major inconvenience for pedestrians.

The recent re-timing of this intersection and the addition of pedestrian beg-buttons has significantly affected pedestrian delay at 41st and Broadway. Please restore the former signal timing and reinstate walk phase son recall. This intersection is an important pedestrian link between Piedmont Ave and Temescal. It used to be easy to cross, but pedestrians now suffer unreasonably long waits.

The intersection of Hawthorne and Telegraph is missing a crosswalk across Telegraph on the south side of the street. Pedestrians that want to cross Telegraph on the south side of Hawthorne are currently required to cross two streets (Hawthrone and Telegraph) instead of one (Telegraph). This is dangerous and inconvenient and needs to be fixed. In the future Oakland must avoid creating more intersections like this one. Every leg of an intersection should always have a crosswalk unless there is a very strong reason to remove one. No such justification exists at this location.

Reduce the number of through lanes in each direction on MLK Jr Way from 2 to 1 in Longfellow (from I-580 to 47th St). Many drivers speed on MLK and fail to yield to pedestrians. When one driver does yield, drivers in the other lane often fail to see pedestrians and do not slow down. Near collisions happen all the time on this street. Unfortunately, actual collisions happen frequently as well. MLK Jr way is the primary collector street in Longfellow for pedestrians walking to and from the BART station. Lots of pedestrians, speeding cars, and a poorly designed road are a recipe for disaster. The ideal solution would be a road diet that converts four car lanes to two through lanes, one turn lane, and bicycle lanes. Striped crosswalks should be painted at every street and pedestrian bulbouts should be added at Macarthur, 40th, 42nd, and 45th.
