A traffic circle will make walking across vineyard very dangerous. Put in crosswalks and lower the speed limit to 30.

Traffic circle will only encourage more people to speed when picking up or dropping off their children at school. The speed limit needs to be 30 on Vineyard drive.

The speed limit should be 30mph on vineyard from Main Street stop light to hwy 46

a 4 way stop at Santa Rita, like there is now at S. Bethel, would slow down and make safer Vineyard.

2 lanes for cars is fine, but widening for bikes/pedestrians would be good

many bikes use Vineyard, esp going over to Santa Rita Creek (old Cayucos rd). There should be clear and safe passage for them, and for pedestrians.

since traffic circles keep cars moving, pedestrian crossing is dangerous.

Bennett Way needs speed limit signs on both sides of the street. Walking/jogging/ bike riding on this street can be dangerous. Accessing Vineyard at certain times of the day can be frustrating due to traffic. Live off of Bennett and could not see how any further development in this corridor is possible with the current traffic issues at Vineyard/101/Rossi.

Please decrease the speed limit. I read through many comments and most people are concerned about safety and are bringing up lights. In some of the intersections we need people to stop, but to help safety over all we need people to drive more slowly in this area. It may have originally been countryside and large country properties, but at this point it is a busy road with a lot of traffic that is required to be used to go to school. It just doesn’t make sense anymore to keep the speed so high.

I like both of those ideas except for that I see no way of the separate bridal trail happening without taking land as I’m not sure if there’s enough space. Our property is on Vineyard so it would affect us should property need to be taken/bought/etc. Aside from not wanting to lose land, I have a well established hedge which would have to be removed that is a home to many wild animals. This hedge is also a helpful sound barrier. Losing it would suck. Incorporate the existing plants if possible.

In addition to needing a sidewalk or pedestrian path the most important thing that needs to happen on Vineyard between 101 and VES is that the speed limit needs to be reduced. This road is used as a corridor, but it is a residential area, not a freeway. We and multiple neighbors have lost pets or had them injured getting hit by cars driving fast in this area. I’ve seen a toddler run off into the street from the neighboring church. Kids walk to school with large cars and trucks flying past them.

Maybe lights are needed at Bethel and the VES to help the timing. Or a light at Bethel vs a roundabout with creating a left turn lane for VES that goes on for some distance so as to allow continuing traffic through while better controlling school congestion might work. There’s a certain amount of congestion you are stuck with no matter what just because everyone needs to get to school.

Vegetation at all corners of intersection hinders visibility. Either remove completely or enforce some kind of growth/size limit. Create turn lane or round about and add cross walk

Reduce the number of cars or improve the infrastructure... Limit the amount of transfers from out of town. School buses to reduce the amount of cars. Increase the size or number of drop off/ pickup at each school.

I third this comment string. It would be nice to see a No Parking Zone closer to the intersection. When a truck or van is parked there, I literally cannot see incoming traffic along Vineyard heading east.

Can we also talk about the dirt lot? Is there any way to make this area a little more polished? Paved, or at least with concrete bumpers and identified parking spaces so cars do not constantly destroy the fence when the pull too far forward?

Likewise, no crosswalks across Rossi for residents, shoppers, or Trader Joe's employees. Extremely hazardous to cross Rossi and walk along Vineyard esp at busy times (note that school pick-up times at 2:45ish and the Trader Joe's shift change at 3 PM make this a crazy intersection in the afternoon.)

Need hidden driveway sign and LOWER speed limit. Very dangerous making left turn into Hidden Valley with drivers going way too fast eastbound around a curve.

Lower speed limit to 40 mph. Do NOT widen road. Speeding is common on this road.

Resuming busses should help decrease traffic congestion in all areas

Many cars stopping at the stairs to drop off students so they can walk through the tunnel impedes traffic into TMS and backs up traffic in front of the school. Drive a little further and drop off in appropriate spot will help with traffic. There used to be school employees directing cars to continue through the drop off area and discouraging to stop in red zone. May be beneficial to resume this.
