The crosswalk at this intersection takes a very long time to allow bikes and foot traffic through. Very busy during high traffic times. Long wait to cross.

  2. November 16 2018

Biggest barrier to using this route. Feel terrible trying to cut through Boise High while school is in session. Significant detour going over to 13th street and back. No good route straight through without getting on a sidewalk.

  3. November 16 2018

Very busy intersection with cars trying to get onto the connecter. Often feel like cars are cutting through the bike lane to make a right turn. Free for all once lights turn green leading to awkward car and bike interactions.

  4. November 16 2018

How will traffic be routed from the street to the path? Are they required to use the crosswalk? Given how much traffic is in this area, this seems like a potential problem. Will cars on Myrtle be allowed to Righ on Red while people are using teh cross-section?

  5. November 16 2018

Cars can park very close to either side of this intersection which restricts site lines. Cross-traffic does not have to stop, and you have to creep far out into the lane to see anything. And drivers are often oblivious. The stop sign should be pushed out on eith side and the sidewalks extended as well as moving parking back on either side.

There can be heavy traffic on Fort, will there be a stop sign or light, or designated cross walk?

  7. November 15 2018

Extremely high traffic area in the mornings for school. Kids running stop signs in cars and students not always waiting for cars. Concerns about pedestrians getting hit or other accidents.

  8. November 15 2018

Several motorist that are turning right onto Front Street come very close to hitting me with their automobile as a pedestrian and cyclist. The traffic on 11th trying to turn onto Front becomes very hard to navigate during peak rush hour.

  9. November 15 2018

This is dodgy. Hard to feel safe crossing here.

BHS is the main reason 11th St. isn't currently how I most often bike to/from downtown. It's a bit of an obstacle in terms of people and cars, but also just doesn't flow well as it's laid out currently between Franklin and Washington.

The transition from the Pioneer Path to 11th street (northbound) is a challenging transition as a cyclist.

  12. November 15 2018

Traffic- cars parked right up to the corner are an issue - cant see cars coming

In considering a bikeway serious thought on the so-called Cartwright Loop or "Dump Ground Loop" by our recreational and transportation planners should be a priority. Mitigating the risk to bikers and motorist on this route calls for attention. This very popular loop attracts cyclists of all abilities and some of the thrill is the drop from the city limit sign at the top of the hill on Cartwright to N Bogus Basin road. A proper bike lane is nearly nonexistent on this portion of the route; uphill and downhill traffic compete for spacing in good weather and bad -- night and day. The mix of users will only continue to increase as the housing developments evolve most notable the latest phase of Hidden Springs. This part of the bike route calls for physical separation of cars and bikes as the speeds attained on this stretch can be high.

Correcting the downhill hazards mainly blind driveways from the hillsides, parked cars, trash bins on N Bogus Basin coupled with motor vehicles creates an extremely risky situation for all. In addition to the bike traffic coming off Cartwright – during the school year there are many kids on bikes commuting to and from Highlands Elementary. Although a painted bike lane is present on this portion of the route many cyclist’s choose the sidewalk as a safety buffer from the traffic and obstacles. As the painted bike lane constricts near Parkhill Dr this would be a natural transition point to potentially shift bikes to 15th and then on to the Camels Back area to meet up with a 11th Street Bikeway concept.

Need more safe bike parking/storage at Y and BHS

This spot has traffic coming from both Payette Brewing and the Title company parking lot together. Bikers need to be on the lookout both directions as they approach. It would be a bit simpler if the path from the river approached from the SouthWest vs the SouthEast (passing through the lawn to the south of Payette Brewing)

The crossings at Front and Myrtle are stressful, especially with children in tow. The time to cross isn't long enough if you have a few kids who are a bit slow to start moving. Personally, I'd like to see a bike underpass and eliminate the need for bikers and pedestrians to cross this intersection entirely.

Very concerned with this bikeway passing through Boise High School. Re-routing around on either 9th or 13th don't seem to be realistic options as bikers will choose to pass through the school properties anyway. Perhaps a large, wide barrier between the school and the track? This would take away some parking, possibly the storage shed on-site would need to be relocated? Good luck here, you may get too much opposition form parents, teachers and students to make this feasible. I'd like to see the options before I would fully support this.

  19. November 15 2018

The angle at which traffic approaches this crossing makes it difficult to be seen. Restricted parking near the crossing, signage, or a controlled signal similar to the one on Whitewater Park Blvd and Pleasanton would be very helpful

Speed bumps along all of 11th St would be good to limit car/truck traffic.
Limitation of car/truck traffic on 11th to residents would be good.
I live on 11th St and have no off street parking options. I don't know what I could do to not park on the street in front of my house. I suppose I could park on the cross street but it seems unrealistic to expect everyone on 11th to do it. So, I guess we're stuck with parked cars along a pretty narrow street. As a biker, I'm open to suggestions on what to do with parked cars.

  21. November 15 2018

This comment is for all cross streets to 11th St.
Putting stop signs on all cross streets to allow bikes the right of way on 11th would be good to limit both cross use and potential accidents.

Lots of people are already using Heron St as part of their commuter route. If 11th St becomes a primary bike route, which I support, it would also be wise to consider how to improve the signage and safety for bike beyond 11th on to Heron and beyond to the Highlands and everywhere.

  23. November 15 2018

Additional bike racks at Camels Back Park would be good, so people can ride to the park and then lock their bikes. This would especially be good for families and kids, to cut down on the traffic and the parking issues especially on weekends and for sports practice.

As 11th Street terminates at River Street, I would ideally like to see a new entrance onto the Greenbelt. Otherwise, cyclists are kind of dumped out onto River at an awkward spot. Motorists leaving the Title One parking lot often seem confused about how to handle cyclists waiting at the 11th and River intersection. Some cars turn left in front of moving cyclists, others wait for cyclists to clear the intersection, some pull onto River partially to stop east-west traffic while cyclists cross. Too messy! There needs to be a definite end to the bikeway that's clear to all road users. Or signage is needed to direct bikeway users to turn left or right onto the bike lanes (as opposed to traveling into the parking lot ahead) with signs pointed towards the library, post office, and other points of interest in that area.

I bike this route every day and live between Alturas and Eastman on 11th St. Having the cross streets of both Alturas and Eastman designated as bike routes, with comparable signage and structures to whatever happens on 11th would be good - to assist bikers going to Hyde Park.
