Orchard and Tefft by Dana Elementary and the Nipomo library need crossing/sidewalk improvements, Police presence and crossing guards.

Pomeroy crosswalk at juniper street in Nipomo. The flashing lights do not work and cars routinely drive through the crosswalk at high speeds. I have seen children almost be hit by cars at this crosswalk. It is a very dangerous crossing for kids trying to get from houses on the other side of Pomeroy to the community park which leads to Dana Elementary.

Bike lanes. Shiffrar Place/Division St to Division/S Las Flores Dr to N Las Flores/Camino Del Oro. Shiffrar is very dangerous to cross onto Division, shrubs are blocking vision, narrow, and high speed traffic.

Willow and Pomeroy as well as the underpass (on and off ramp at 101 and willow) cars do not even stop when exiting the freeway

The crosswalks at Tefft and Mallagh, Tefft and Thompson Rd and Tefft and Chestnut St. in Nipomo are poorly marked and cars speed by. I think that a blinking light sign during school hours at the crosswalks or even blinking lights on the crosswalks themselves should be mandatory. I drive that route every school day and see the problem. Someone is going to get hurt if nothing is done

They need to put a cross walk with cross light flashing on price street and another on Thompson! The way people drive so fast and careless it’s scary

ALL of Thompson Ave is extremely dangerous, and I know firsthand from being in a law-enforcement family how many people have actually been hit and killed on the street. There areso many drunk drivers in Nipomo, that they top many other cities surrounding. People drivedrunk at any time of the day.
There are way too many people speeding through the school zone, absolutely no safety precautions taken, and I even recently saw a sheriff’s deputy who was at the stoplight on her phone, while moving her car and driving through the school areaafter having left the school.Liked 0 times -
Thompson needs a pedestrian beacon or cross light

Brisco at Linda. Visible police presence, not a motor cop hiding up the driveway out of sight and out of mind. No more red zones and no enforcement of red zones for parents lined up in running cars. Moving the line into the single traffic lane decreases safety because the intersection can hold without moving for minutes at a time. The non-school drivers will drive on the wrong side of Brisco Road on the backside of the hill in their attempt to get past the Linda Drive stop sign. Long waits create irate drivers that make reckless moves like running the stop sign. (The first time I was almost hit by a car at the intersection was when a motor cop made all of the parents move out of the red zone. Traffic was stopped up for several minutes and a car ran the stop sign nearly hitting a then-three-year-old and myself. Spirit versus letter of the law.) I want the intersection to be known for police presence. Additionally, an oversized flashing stop sign for southbound Brisco Road traffic. Two reasons: (A) Easier to see 24/7 and(B) when parents are lined up on Brisco Road the bigger sign will be visible above waiting vehicles. I have lived on Brisco for 15 years and was the crossing guard for over a year.

Thompson-the newer crosswalk needs the flashing lights and button to push for lighting up the crosswalk. There is heavy traffic at school times and many students walking. Nipomo really needs sidewalks in order for parents to feel safe letting kids walk to/from school.

Hazel street between gold crest and Cleveland street in Nipomo has no sidewalks. I would put in a sidewalk that stretches the entire length of Hazel as many students walk this route everyday and it is not safe

The Pike- speed of cars on the road. Lack of sidewalk and overgrown homeowners plants/crumbling retaining wall that force students to walk in the street. Crosswalk at pike and elm where cars do not stop for pedestrians.

Tefft street where the freeway entrances and exits. This is a huge concern because the “walk" and “do not walk” symbol does not correspond with the traffic lights. My student has almost been hit by a driver trying to hurry and make the lights because of the traffic congestion.

The pike and 24th st and Wilmar Ave between 24th and 23rd need sidewalks, 23rd needs a stop sign at Tamera Ct from 23rd. I opt to jay walk with my kids on the pike at 24th st, overwalking on Wilmar or the pike where there are not full sidewalks and the little crossing at Tamera where my littles have had close calls with crossing even with an adult walking them. Itis safer for me to wait or wait for cars to stop on the pike where I know cars can’t turn from behind us and “not see us”

Flashing beacons are needed at both cross walks on Thompson Road at Price and Chestnut. I believe the crossing guard at Teft and Price was hit by a car. There is nothing to slow people down as they enter or exit town on Thompson making both crosswalks very dangerous. Peppertrees along Thompson north of Chestnut make the crosswalk even more worse. Flashing beacons should also be used at Teft street next to bus stop and at Beechnut. The walking path on Beechnut becomes very muddy where it is not paved.

23rd is VERY narrow around LaVern & Holden. It’s not even wide enough for 2 cars, let alone pedestrians or bikes. There should be additional crosswalks in front of Fairgrove, on The Pike& 24th. We take 25th from Hwy 1 until it dead ends into Wilmar to get to school & there is a large section that doesn’t have sidewalks.

Cross st: Oak Park and the pike. This intersection has increased in the amount of students using it. The cars tend to always be speeding, never looking for walkers, and because it is so long on one side, the cars get impatient. My son was hit by a car here. The driver turned and failed to notice 3 kids walking in the middle of the crosswalk. The police did nothing other than say sorry that happened. This has always been a dangerous crosswalk, and i hate to think that a child must die in order for someone to pay attention and change this crosswalk. Either adding flashing crosswalk lights, or a light would be ideal for this area. But also make sure there are sidewalks and that they are clean for students to walk on, and not have to use the street as a walking area.

Farroll Ave, elm st. Also any crossing from elm st and farroll ave to Harloe. There are too many distracted drivers that are not expecting to have to stop when Turing right to school and in a rush. A lot of times we are half way through the intersection and are stuck in a blind spot of these suvs. They are going too fast and have to slam on brakes. They see me but not my kids. Improvement would be a cross walk with lights and digital voice saying it’s okay to cross or to wait. Something more visible for drivers. So drivers expect to stop for pedestrians.
